Course 1
Lectures on “EU Law and circular economy within the EU single market for the accomplishment of Sustainable Development Goals” (in English)
The lectures investigate the relationship between EU Law and the circular economy in the framework of the EU single market. It focuses in particular on the fields that might be affected by the advent of the circular economy, namely those relating to appropriate standards and rules on product design and production processes, those aiming at promoting adequate patterns of consumption, those connected with rules for promoting the circulation of secondary raw materials (for reuse) and waste (for recovery and recycling).
The lectures are taught within the Department of Business and Law of the University of Siena and will be directed primarily to students of economics and business (following master courses entirely taught in English), which are already exposed to some general teaching of EU law in their curriculum. However, the course will be open to students of all Departments of the University of Siena, who might have a specific interest in this topic.

Lectures on “Diritto dell’Unione Europea ed economia circolare nel mercato unico europeo per l’attuazione degli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile” (EU Law and circular economy within the EU single market for the accomplishment of Sustainable Development Goals) (in Italian).
The set of lectures investigate the relationship between EU Law and the circular economy in the framework of the EU single market. Course 3
Lectures on “Circular economy and sustainable development in EU law and policies” (in Italian).
These lectures aim to provide students with an overview of the most relevant legal – environmental issues that emerged, both at the international level and within the European Union, regarding sustainable development. To this end, the most relevant legislation will be analysed together with the tools used for the regulation of the environment.
The course is divided in two parts. The first part provides a general overview of the concept of sustainable development, addressing the issue according to an interdisciplinary approach that combines the contributions of the legal, economic, ecological and social sciences.
The second part is devoted to the analysis of the most relevant sectoral regulations that contribute to making up the so-called right of sustainable development (circular economy, climate change, energy) as well as the deepening of the most urgent challenges posed by sustainable development.
The course includes the alternation of lectures and seminars with the direct involvement of the students.

Course 4
Series of Seminars on “EU Law, Circular economy, and Sustainable Development” (in Italian and English).
The series of seminars looks at the contribution that the circular economy, as developed at EU level, through the update and revision of relevant existing law and policy, may give to the implementation to the goal of sustainable development in light of the Green Deal launched by the EU Commission.
The seminars are taught in cooperation with the “Europe Direct Siena” program of the University of Siena, they are open to students of all Departments of the University of Siena and the University staff who is interested in this topic. They are also open to high school students, on the basis of specific agreements between the University of Siena and some selected high schools. Moreover, they are open to the participation of the business sector and the civil society at large.
Audience: Students and administrative staff of the University of Siena; high school students; members of the business sector; civil society at large.
